This is a written effort to redeem the term “wealth” from the power of greed and the meaningless lust for the things of this world… This letter is about comprehending the purpose of wealth; how to revive your finances, why is wrong for you to be broke, how to operate in creative faith, and how to participate in the dream of God’s heart… The Person and The Principles: Two Different ThingsThe first thing we must understand is the difference between the Person of Jesus and the Principles of Jesus. They are 2 different, separate things. In my short life journey I discovered something shocking... Many Christians love Jesus (enjoying glorious eternal consequences), but they ignore His laws (principles). As a result of breaking His laws they encounter negative circumstances such as becoming broke. Then they get confused and cannot understand why things are going the way they are... On the other hand... many business people in the world ignore the Person of Jesus (with severe eternal consequences), they don't believe that Jesus is who He claims to be... but guess what? They love and follow most of God's principles because its proven they bring prosperity. And yes, they get amazing results here on earth... This is one of the reasons Jesus said: "For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light" Luke 16:8 In order to learn Kingdom Economics you need to master both dimensions: God's Person and God's Principles. Before we go on... it is necessary to deal with some issues and wrong paradigms: If you are not a direct and upfront person like me, this will be hard to swallow... I only ask that you hear me out and remember that I love you... I hear this all the time, like a broken record..."I'm waiting for a breakthrough", "I cannot afford that, finances are tight", "I'm hoping a check will show up in the mail" "We don't have enough, we are serving God you know", and so many other comments from Christians that somehow think that being broke is normal and Okay... I have news for you, unless you live in a remote part of the world in the middle of a desert (which makes me think how it is possible you have satellite internet access); and unless you are emotionally or physically disabled in an extreme way... you're broke because you want to be. The painful truth is that our financial life today is the result of our past choices and decisions. (Please read that again). "Choice" and "Actions"—we are managers of both all the time, every second of our lives. Wishful Prayer without Works is DeadThe apostle James said it clear, "Faith without works is dead" (James 2:17). Many pray and hope for a financial breakthrough, but that's all they do... they wish but are not willing to educate their minds and move out of their comfort zones... Others say, "I'm waiting on God to change things for me", without understanding that the Lord has giving us dominion and authority over the earth. In most cases, circumstances will not change until you exercise your authority, move, and do something... The Mystery of How Ravens are Fed by GodRemember what Jesus said? "Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn: and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? (Luke 12:24) Think about it, how does the Lord feed the ravens? Have you seen God stretching out His hand and putting food in their mouths? I have traveled across the world more than once, and I have never seen an unemployed raven... Smile... Here is how God feeds them: He provides plenty of food for them to eat, but they have to fly and fetch it. It is up to them to find it. The Earth's Cursed System vs. The Kingdom of GodAfter the fall of Man inthe Garden of Eden, the earth became cursed. Since then, humans have run after "provision", toiling and sweating for food and daily necessities. This is not the original plan God had in mind… everything needed was provided in the Garden. But now, sorrow (worry), toil and sweat are the price for provisions... Within this cursed environment people live in a survival mode, running the rat-race and toiling and sweating for a paycheck. They live in constant fear and allow greed to govern their emotions and actions. Yes, most humans strongly believe in lack and are convinced that there is not enough to go around for all... The good news is that the curse was broken at Calvary... and Jesus had a lot to say about a different Kingdom and a different set of laws—Supernatural laws... People worship lifestyles, financial freedom, and security because they believe that those "things" are the pinnacle of the human experience... However, the only thing that has eternal value are the souls of men. The purpose of wealth is in making sure all peoples hear, taste, and live The Message that can save them... forever. So again, what is the purpose of wealth? No one said it better than king David, the sweet psalmist of Israel:
The main purpose of wealth is to build the House of the Lord—The testimony of God on earth, His Kingdom, His House of Prayer for all nations, and the fulfilment of the Great Commission to the ends of the earth. David said "Using every resource at my command, I have gathered as much as I could" If you have embraced a scarcity-mentality that statement will make you uncomfortable... "Gathering as much as I can? Oh no! that's greed, that's selfish and evil" However, King David tells us why he was producing and gathering wealth... he gathered way more than one billion dollars (do the math on the gold, etc.), to give it away for the Testimony of God on earth. Does the amount "billion dollars" scare you? It did me. But then I thought, "David started with a harp and some sheep... if he was able to give away that kind of money for the temple then so can I." What is your giving goal? Some of you may say "I can barely survive now and I'm deep in debt, are you out of your mind?" And I would say "I'll show you a way out of that". It is time for you to think big, apply the Laws of the Kingdom, and get involved with God's dream.
